Deep In The Heart of Texas
You probably know by now that I hail from Louisiana, I went to LSU, and love all things Cajun. But you may not know that I did a lot of growing up in Houston, TX. And you probably don't know that my youngest sister lived most of her life in Houston and even though she now goes to LSU herself her heart belongs to Texas. So when she asked me to make her some Texas wall art I wasn't surprised. A little heart broken but not surprised.

Valentines Thumbprint Hearts
Valentines is coming up! Have you bought your sweetheart a present yet? Me neither...I'm such a procrastinator. But; when I do have my present, I have a quick, easy and relatively inexpensive way to personalize your gift wrapping this year. I feel very Martha Stewart-ish!
We've all seen the thumbprint jewelry online- it comes in gold and silver, necklaces and bracelets. Well what about making your own version out of clay using your own finger prints?

One Check Off My Bucket List...Hopefully!
I know I've been a little light on DIY projects lately- I'm going to make it up to you with a cool project I'm hoping to finish up tonight! One of the reasons for this lack of work is because I'm currently training for my first marathon!
I've run 2 half marathons before and have always wanted to try and run a full.

Me after my first half, I found out the next day that I was pregnant with Con-Man!!

Sofa in Front of a Window?
Good Morning All! I hope everyone had a good MLK Day. We spent the day in OKC taking Con-Man to the Science Museum, eating a real resturants and overall relaxing; hence this day late blog post.
Before we left town I was helping a friend with furniture layout ideas for a new house they are moving into. Mainly the living and bedrooms. In her bedroom she was hoping to put the bed in front of the window, but was worried that it would look weird or that there was some rule against it. I told her no fear! Lots of people put their bed in front of a window and have it look good- check out this post I did a while back on placing a bed in front of a window.

The One Tool We All Have & Some Inspiration
I've recently found a new tool to add to my arsenal. Can you guess what it is? It's something that we all use everyday- any thoughts?
It's my hairdryer! Yes- my hairdryer has become a tool I've used in two projects recently. First with my updated bar cart and then to remove the marble tops off these side tables:

Latest Thrifty Finds
I realized that I haven't shared any thrifty finds lately. That's partly because it's been slim pickins around here but recently I've scored some fun finds.
So what better way to start the New Year than to share them with you!
First up is this awesome Mid Century Nelson inspired bench I found on the Altus Classifieds page:

A sad little stool that was likely headed for the burn pile before I bid $5 on it and took it home. I have actually been looking for a little stool for a while. My plans were to cut it up so I'm glad I got this one for cheap.

My First Ever Furniture Auction!
I don't know what most of you did on New Years Day but I spent most of my time at my first furniture auction!! Yes, even in our tiny town of Altus, OK there is an auction house. This particular one has auctions every month; but New Years Day is their biggest. People come from all over the place (Texas, Arizona, ect.) to check it out.

Rustic Shabby Chic Living Room
Hey Blog Friends! Long time no see! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
Sorry I took a month long hiatus with no warning. December ended up being a hectic month! Besides all the usual holiday chaos my little 5 month Saw-Man decided he hated sleeping at night. This combined with my 3yr old Con-Man's usual never ending energy made for one exhausted Momma.
And truth be told I was falling into a blog funk. I wasn't feeling creative, I felt like my projects didn't have a lot of heart, just overall blah. So stepped away from blogging for a while. I apologize, thanks for sticking around; I'm ready to dive back in if you are!
