The Big D Marathon was this weekend! I've been training for it for months it feels like and now it has finally come and gone. I am so happy and relieved that I finished it.
About to cross the finish line
Me around mile 17
My parents brought the kids out to cheer me on; this was a huge motivation for me- I was so excited to see them
The Hubs ran his first Half Marathon this weekend too! And notice SawMan asleep in the stroller- he was not impressed with our accomplishments. ;)
Though in the pictures I am smiling (mainly because I was so happy it was all over with) it was not easy. The last month or so of my training did not go as planned, the course was actually longer than 26.2 (WTH!!??) and I had no idea Dallas was so hilly. I seriously felt like the back part of the course was one constant uphill climb. I had some trouble around mile 22 but sucked it up and continued on. I didn't make the time I had hoped but I finished and that is what was important.
And I was so thankful for my family. My parents drove up from Houston to watch the kids while we ran and cheered us on. And I am incredibly thankful for my husband. Training for a marathon takes up a lot of time and he watched Con and Saw during my long weekend runs.
Will I do another marathon? Mmmm... not anytime soon. I crossed it off my bucket list and will stick with half's until I get the itch again.
I am so proud of you!
