Ikat is an ancient Eastern technique in textile design- so technically it's not anything new. But it is being used in new and unique ways; both in color and use.
What first caught my eye and spurred this post is the new Beacon Hill Ikat Outdoor fabric collection. Makes me ready for summer! Wouldn't these fabrics be fun for outdoor pillows? Or on a lounge chair on the patio?
Ikat looks great on furniture and pillows indoors as well:
Wondering how to incorporate Ikat into your home? Here are some ideas!
And here's a cool Ikat DIY if you want to go that route.
I think if I found some pillows in the right colors I could incorporate Ikat into our living room design. What are your thoughts on Ikat? Love It, Leave It, Not sure what to do with it?
I've been really digging Ikat lately! I dont think the hubby would let me get Ikat curtains, buuuuut I've been trying to bring in pillows and accents.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I just ordered ikat-inspired curtains from West Elm for our family room, and I can't wait to put them up.
ReplyDeleteSome I like, some I don't like. I really like the green and white on that couch! I'm pretty brave with colors and patterns, but I'm not sure even I would do Ikat on a couch. That large scale beadspread is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIndoor/outdoor fabrics have come a longgggg way, those are some great finds. They'd be perfect for updating the look of dining room chairs since they'd be so easy to keep clean.
