What got me thinking about this was the bowls I made the other day. In the post where I got the idea for the DIY was a suggestions to paint the bowl neon to go along with the Neon Trend. And I did! I painted one bowl I made for my youngest sister neon green because I thought she'd like it.
Need proof that the eighties is making a comeback? Have you seen those kids on the Disney Channel? They look like mini Madonna's!
Or this image from New York Fashion Magazine comparing then and now:
I don't know if it's because I feel like the 80's wasn't that long ago (30 years isn't a long time right?!) or if it's because I've been programed to think of the 80's as the tacky decade that should be forgotten.
The 80's gets a bad rap because of trends like this:
Shoulder Pads
Work Out Gear
Big Teased Hair
Men with Big Teased Hair that Look Like Women
Jellies (Jury's still out on this one- I had several pairs of these when I was younger)
And of course 80's home decor, how can we forget?
Now I know that with any trend/ decade that makes a comeback it's usually in a more subdued and updated way. Like how Mid-Century has been the hot trend for a while- do people who grew up in that decade roll their eyes at people like me who think it's way cool?
But the 80's? I'm still not convinced.
What's next? 90's grunge?
Lord Help us all!
What do you think? Do you like to see trends make a comeback? Are there some you'd rather see forgotten?

I feel like the 80s weren't that long ago. What can I say, that was the decade of my childhood, so it all feels familiar and funny. "Back already?!" is pretty much how I feel.
Merry Christmas to you!
How in the world are the 80's already labeled 'oldies'?? It was just a minute ago...the only trend I hope comes back to stay is big hair...for women only please :)
My husband refuses to let me wear vests because of his fear of the 80's coming back and I get scowls from him for tucking in shirts or wearing skinny belts. I can see it, but I dont think it is coming back quite as tacky... I hope!
I see the colors and some shapes have been in and out of "fashion" since the 80's. I don't mind the fun colors and some of the mixing patterns/textures, but some thing should stay in the 80's. The Disney girls you pictured is just enough 80's for me.
I am not sure if I am looking forward to seeing the 80's trends come back! I wasn't all that big on them even then!! Maybe if they do they will be a lot more cool.
I feel like we're in some kind of blender generation that mixes so many styles from different decades. I wish we had our own identity!
As a kid of the 90s im anxiously awaiting the 90s grunge to come back. My ripped jeans and band tshirts are in hibernation :) 80s I dont remember sadly (born in '89) so when it comes back ill get a chance to experience it.
This made me laugh!
