Awesome Olympic Style

The Summer Olympics are officially here! All our waiting has finally paid off. Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies on Friday?

I thought the 5 Rings all lit up was pretty cool. And what did you think of the Queen "parachuting" into the stadium?

British Style has been all the rage over the last few months with everyone gearing up for the games; and it's probably not going anywhere for a while. So in commemoration of the 2012 Games heres a round up of all things Olympic Inspired in Design.

First up, I know we've all seen these Union Jack furniture pieces floating around the internet.

I love this Olympic inspired print, what a great way to commemorate the 2012 Events!

I love it when a company goes the extra mile to do something environmentally friendly, and I love it even more when that effort produces a better result than the usual way of doing things.

Example- You've probably heard about how Nike went Green in Designing the Uniforms for Olympic Teams. The uniforms for the Track Team are made from 13 recycled water bottles. They claim that the new technology could shave off valuable seconds for the runners. And the Team USA Basketball uniforms are made from 22 recycled water bottles. How cool is that?!

Nike also went for the Green with the design of the shoes the sprinters will wear. The feather light shoes are like a second skin and are produced with a waste reducing process- Yay Mother Earth!

Speaking of uniforms what were your thoughts on the outfits the Olympians wore for the Opening Ceremonies? They were made by Ralph Lauren. Some people loved them some not so much. There was also controversy over that fact that they were made in China and not the United States...

Personally I think they are nice but a little frou frou for our athletes. I liked Great Britain's uniforms better. But hey; at least I got a chuckle out of seeing tough guy Kobe Bryant in a beret!

Since I know I won't be bringing home any Olympic Gold doesn't mean I can't have it around the house. Gold is making a big comeback in decor. Here are a few ways to bring it into your home.

What's says Olympic Gold than a Greek Key lamp?

Mix two of summer's most popular styles; gold and ocean themed decor with this gold coral candlestick.

These circular gold mirrors say Olympic Gold to me!!

Have you been watching the Olympics? What have been your favorite events so far?

Sawyer is Here!

You may have noticed that I've been MIA for a while. Some of you may have guessed where I've been and it's not my fault! Well not completely...

Sawyer Matthew Falcon arrived over the weekend!!

Sawyer showed up a week earlier than expected. I had just hopped into the car to pick up a friend to go to a huge city wide garage sale in a town an hour away. But right as I started the car my water broke! Good thing I hadn't already driven off somewhere so far from home.

Later that night Sawyer made his appearance. And if your wondering; yes- I was able to go Au Naturale for his birth!

His face is so funny in this picture!

Con-Man has been a great Big Brother. He tells Sawyer that he is "so cute", gives him kisses and asks to hold him. He also does other things like when pointing out the parts of Sawyer's face he pokes him in the eye sometimes, but Sawyer doesn't seem to mind.

We're getting all settled in and I hope not to leave you in Blog Black Out for to long. Things won't be as frequent for a while and I may not get to comments as quickly but we'll be back in the swing of things soon!

One for The Kiddos

Woo Hoo it's Wednesday! Poor Wednesday often gets a bad rap sometimes because it's in the middle of the week. But just think, after Wednesday comes Thursday, then Friday (Friday's are awesome) then comes the weekend!! So actually Wednesday isn't all that bad since it's the kind of the precursor to the weekend.

And~ today Con-Man's Big Boy Room is being featured over at Remodelaholic this evening. Go check it out!

But Anyway....

Since I finally finished Sawyer's nursery, and my due date is coming up- I have kids on the brain. I thought sharing a few cool kid worthy design ideas would be fun for today.

Have you seen Todd Oldman's collection of Modern Art Supplies for Kids at Target? I wish wish wish there was a Target near me so I could stock up (for the Con-Man of course). But for now online viewing is the best I have!

If you've been looking for fun wall decals that are different than the norm and haven't had much luck you need to check out 2Modern's line called WallCandy. They have lots of fun decals to fit any decor including chalk decals, balloon animals, and temporary wallpaper.

What better way to make a kid feel like their room is really their own than with using their initial in the decor? I've been on the lookout for a big letter S or C for my boys. Maybe one of these options will work?

Have you seen the new Fall Collection at Land Of Nod? There is some seriously cool stuff! There are 3 collections with 3 distinct styles. I wish I was a kid again!! Maybe I could work some of this in to our home decor? Why should the kids have all the fun?

If your looking for some Kid Friendly DIY projects check out Lowes Creative Ideas for some fun projects.

Hopefully these ideas will get your creative juices flowing for the little guys and gals in your life; or for yourself!

A Nursery That's Over the Moon

As promised today I'm going to reveal Tiny Falcon #2's Nursery. And since we've been telling everyone else I can finally tell you as well- We're going to name him Sawyer! He'll be here in about 2 weeks if all goes as planned.

His nursery has been pretty much ready for a while now. The reason I hadn't shown it yet is because I have been tirelessly searching for the curtains that match his bedding. They much have gotten lost in the move because they haven't turned up along with a few other things that Con-Man used as a baby. You can read more about my inspiration for the room here.

Anyway- without further adieu here's Sawyer's Moon and Star Nursery:

The theme for the room came from the saying "I love you to the moon and back." I used Con-Man's old bedding that my mom and I made which luckily matched the paint color that was already in the room. I had trouble finding stars and other accessories to match the color scheme so I broke out the spray paint and made it work.

I found a dresser at the thrift store that we are using as a changing table; The changing table we had for Con-Man is now our entertainment center. Reused the old rocker from Con-Man's room and a friend gave me the penants hanging on the shelf. The shelf is just a piece of wood leftover from other projects and the baskets are garden baskets we had on hand that I spray painted.

And again a few things leftover from Con-Man's nursery; the pictures I painted and the shelving unit.

It's simple and sweet, just the way I like it. I feel like I had a lot more stuff in Con-Man's room. I remember the shelf being full and needed extra storage so we got an old chest. I guess a lot of the things that were in Con's room before we are currently using.

Either way all this room needs now is a baby!! Come on July 28th!
