IIDA Color & Couture Fashion Show

For the past few weeks I've been working on another sort of secret project. It's not really a secret but I didn't want to talk to much about it since what I was working on was part of a competition. Every year the Oklahoma Chapter of IIDA (International Interior Design Association) has their Color & Couture Fashion Show to raise money for scholarships. I thought it would be fun to participate and joined a team of other designers.

Each team is given material usually used in interiors and a color pallet to work off of and then must create a couture fashion item to be worn on the runway. We were given 3-Form, but some people got carpet, tile, fabric, ect. 3-Form is an awesome company that makes all sort of resins in different colors and textures. It can be used as counter tops, wall partitions, lighting, ect. And if your wondering how the heck we made e a couture fashion item out of resin, let me tell you it was a challenge. Luckily the other ladies on my team were creative and resourceful.

Working off our color pallet- the main color was supposed to be the beige with the other colors as accents:

Sawyer's 9 Month Photo

Sawyer is 9 months old!! Time is flying by way to fast.

My little model was especially difficult to photograph this month because he is so wiggly! But how can one expected to sit still when there is so much to look at?

Hey look a cat!!

Whoa was that a bird?!

LG Hi-Macs Annual Design Competition

Hey Blog Friends! Today I want to share with you something I've been working on top secretly for a while now. I've been waiting to show you until I was able to enter my design into the contest- and finally I have!

This year LG Hi-Macs is having a competition for architects and designers to come up with any object that can use LG Hi-Macs and can be placed in an interior space. What is LG Hi-Macs? It's a unique material that can be molded into any shape or form you can think of. Here are some examples:

Master Bedroom Progress

I've had 5 million things going on (Well more like 4 but it feels like 5 Million). One of them, the marathon, is over with. But the other 3 I'm still working on and am dying to to share with you- it's just not the right time yet.

For now you'll have to settle for some photo updates of our Master Bedroom. I made up my mind that I'm not going to procrastinate and let this room sit unfinished like I do with so many other rooms in our house. So here are some before shots just to remind you where we started:

The Big D Dallas Marathon!!

**My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the bombings at the Boston Marathon.**

The Big D Marathon was this weekend! I've been training for it for months it feels like and now it has finally come and gone. I am so happy and relieved that I finished it.

Super Easy DIY Jewelry Holder

So a few weeks ago I scored this lamp from what is now my favorite thrift store (since its the same one I got my safe deposit boxes from) for only $10!

It needed some rewiring (if you want to read more about rewiring lamps you can check out this post here or Kara Paslay has a good tutorial on wiring.) but for $10 that was not an issue.

I like the vintage bohemian feel but that gold metal screen inside was a bit much.

So I took it out.

Color Meaning: Pink

I'm back with another Color Meaning In Design ~ This week it's Pink!

Like it's cousin red it packs a punch when used in the right shade. You may be someone who seeks out new experiences and surroundings if you use a bold shade of this color in your home. Whatever the reason is you've chosen pink for your home; it's a color that makes itself known and will not be ignored!

DIY Safe Deposit Box turned TV Console

Of all the projects, furniture redos, and DIY's I've done I think this one is my favorite. From grimy green safety deposit boxes buried underneath piles of junk in a local thrift store to this:

A new television console in our bedroom.

Here's a quick recap of what we started I started with and how I fixed these guys up-
