Here's Looking at You Spring

I don't know what the weather is like where you live but it's been pretty nasty here in Oklahoma. Yesterday it snowed, today (Sunday) it's crazy windy, and there is supposed to be a blizzard tonight!!

It's almost March- it's not supposed to be blizzarding right now. I am over winter; over it! I'm ready for warm springs days and sunshine. It also doesn't help that my Louisiana friends are posting pictures of crawfish boils all over Facebook.

Maybe if I put myself in a warm springtime state of mind the Oklahoma weather will follow. Looking at bright colored interiors and decor should do the trick. Here's hoping!

Wallcovering Wall Panels- A Renter's Solution

Design Dilemma- you update one part of your room and then you have to update all of it. It's a serious problem people!!

Case in point- my new super awesome patterned wall panels!

I was lucky enough to win a roll of wallcovering from 2Modern several months ago. Since then I've thought about how I would use it in our home.

Mardi Gras 2013!

The Ole' Blog has been pretty quiet this week. Mainly because we've been recovering and unpacking from Mardi Gras!! Here are some pictures from our trip (the ones I can show you anyway!)

I was super excited that our whole family came down for the festivities this year! Here I am with my sisters. We're showing off our Mardi Gras party cups my middle sister made for us.

The Hubs rode on a float this year so we made signs for him. His parade got delayed so it get to where we were until 11PM.

Taking a break while waiting for the parade

The next day things were a little more crazy:

Our first beads of the day

Some parade sights:

Lots of Beads!

Our crazy friends

Bead Tree!

Coveted Endymion Kelly Clarkson Cup!

Con-Man and Sawyer came out with us on Sunday and caught the day parades. Someone let him sit in their ladder so he could catch lots of beads.

And no good Mardi Gras would be complete without this:

We had a ton of fun and we're hoping to make it back for next year. Have a great weekend everyone!

Vintage Window Picture Frame

I was going to title this post:

"Lets see how many holes I can punch into the wall of my rental home."

But decided that was to long. (Just kidding Landlord I'm going to patch any and all these holes!) I had just hung our family photo wall not to long ago and I'm already changing it up.

Remember last week I shared this photo of the scrap wood I found?

Mardi Gras Mantle Revisited

Happy Friday Friends!! As you are reading this the Fam and I are on our way to New Orleans for Mardi Gras weekend!! Yay!! We are super excited to be joining not only my whole family but some near and dear friends down in the French Quarter this year.

While I'm down in the Crescent City eating beignets and having a wonderful Mardi Gras time, I thought we could revisit my Mardi Gras mantle from last year. Enjoy!!

I did some decorating around the house with beads and Mardi Gras items I've caught in past New Orleans parades to get into the Mardi Gras Spirit.

InstaRunner

Since I've been training for my upcoming marathon I've been doing a lot of running. I mean A LOT of running! To help pass the time during my long runs I've been doing a little bit of Instagraming while I'm out and about. Most of my long runs have been through the fields of Altus.

Here are a few shots from my recent treks:

During some of my early jogs it's just me and these flocks of geese enjoying the sunrise.

Choosing a Rug

If you've been following this blog for a while you may have noticed my struggle with choosing a rug for the living room. Part of this problem is that I constantly change my mind about what I like and don't like. But I'm super excited about a new rug I have coming in soon that I will share with you in the future.

In the meantime I thought we would talk about how to choose a rug.

Caring for a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree

So I bought a fiddle Leaf Fig tree- I know it seems like everyone is getting one these days but I seriously love the look of them and have been trying to add some life  and natural touches to our home so I had to get one myself.

I read up on them before getting one and everywhere I read seemed to suggest that these are easy to care for plants. But from reading comments from readers on these websites it doesn't sound like the case.
