A New Orleans Weekend

Like I mentioned the other day we spent the week in New Orleans for the Hubs Pediatric Conference. It is my favorite city for many reasons! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (follow me!- rfalcon12) you've seen some of these pics.

We were pretty overloaded on the ride over there with two kids and a dog in the back of the Murano.

You can't really see it but that's Tiger Stadium in the background. We're driving over the Mississippi River Bridge going into Baton Rouge.

Disney Trip!

Sorry I didn't have my usual Friday Feature post for you yesterday- I've been a slacker and have been trying to get settled into "real" life after our vacation. I did want to show a few photos from our trip. We had a really good time. I don't know who had more fun; me or the Con-Man!

Before I get into that I did want to mention a few little changes I made around here. With all the talk about Blogger getting rid of the Google Friend Connect for non-Blogger platforms I went a head and added the Linky tool app. I didn't know of any other options- so we'll check it out together and see how it goes! I'm also on Google+ but have never really used it. Maybe it's time I did.... So I went ahead and added that link if you want to follow along that way. I'm still figuring it out myself so we'll see how that goes as well.

Con-Man ready to go!

So anyway- enough boring stuff, the first day of our trip we went to Universal Studios. And that means Harry Potter World!!!! I am a huge Harry fan so this was a big deal for me. We saw Hogwarts, walked through Hogsmead, rode the rides, everything! (And of course I forgot my camera this day so all I had was my phone.)

The Butterbeer was amazing! The Chocolate Caldrons- to die for! Still have to eat my chocolate frog. (And I found a recipe for Butterbeer I have to try!)

The next day we started at Disney. Con-Man was so excited to see Mickey and Minnie! I thought he might be afraid of them but he gave them big hugs and everything.

Mickey knew the LSU fans were coming and did the flowers just for us!

He rode all the rides and wasn't afraid of any of them. And he met some more of his favorite characters.

We got that Child Swap thing down to a science and even found time for swimming.

It was a fun trip but I will say not relaxing! I needed a vacation after this vacation. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sight Seeing in Seattle

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well in these last few weeks before school starts again. We got back from out Washington Trip this past weekend. I'm am still incredibly grateful for the opportunity to go there. We were told that we scored the last available Space-A spots on the plane. This is one perk of being a military family I'll have to take advantage of more often!

Before you get to green with envy this is the type of plane we flew on:

It was a cool experience, but notice that there are no windows on the plane? That was interesting. And there were no real seats either- we sat on nylon slings that ran along the walls on the plane. And the cabin wasn't pressurized, so once we got to cruising altitiude it got really cold! But beggars can't be choosers and it was neat to be able to take Con-Man to see the cockpit and talk with all the guys working on the plane.

We were fortunate enough to know some friends in Seattle so we stayed with them and they showed us all the sights. First stop was the famous fish market downtown.

We also walked by the original Starbucks. I wanted to go inside and get some coffee but the line was a mile long.

Space Needle!

I wanted to go to the Frank Gehry Experience Music Project Museum, mainly to just look at the building; but we didn't have time. We did drive by though.

We got out of the city for a few days and visited Washington Wine Country.

And we spent a night at Mount Rainier. We rented a small cabin and showed Con-Man some cool sights. The only bummer was that it was really cloudy both days we were there and we didn't get good pics of the mountain.

Our cabin looked small and shack- like from the outside but it was nice inside! The perfect size for the 3 of us.

We made a fire! Go us!

Using what Mother Nature gave us.

There was even snow!

We ended a our trip with a Seattle Mariners game. So fun!

And here's a little sneak peek of what I'm working on now:

Ohh!! What is it?!?!

Unexpected Vaca

We've only been in Oklahoma for less than two weeks but we're taking off once again. As I've mentioned we moved here because the Hubs is in the Air Force, he's the new base Pediatrician!

He's spent the last week or so inprocessing, and doesn't start work for another week. I meanwhile am still jobless (I wouldn't say Altus is the best place for an Interior Designer to find a job but I'm still holding out hope something pops up). So we thought that this would be a good time to take advantage of one of the perks the Air Force has to offer- Space-A travel!

We'll be flying on one of these bad boys for just a few dollars each! This week the mission is to Tacoma, WA. We requested a spot and are on our way!

We've never been to Washington and we're excited. We have friends from college there, there's a lot to do, and it's only 60 degrees as opposed to Oklahoma 100's.

We have to fly like this but it's worth it- I can't wait to go and share our adventure with you!

Back to the Real World

Well we got back from our vacation last night and it was back to work today. WaWa...

Thanks for all the support, advice, and suggestions you guys left about my chair dilemma last week. I'm going to order the fabric, search out some other upholstery quotes, and if nothing seems within my budget I'm going to tackle the project myself. :)

As you remember we were in Acapulco last week. Yay! The hubs and I have a lot to celebrate in the month of June. His birthday is in June, now we have Father's Day to celebrate, and our wedding anniversary (5 years!)

We had a blast hanging out by the beach and pool, eating local food, and just relaxing before our move to Altus, OK. Here are some pics!

We stayed at the Grand Mayan thanks to the AFVC (Armed Forces Vacation Club). If your in the military and haven't heard of it check it out- they have amazing deals!

Lots of beach and pool time!

When we weren't lounging in the sun we went out downtown to see the famous Acapulco Cliff Divers, ate some awesome local food, saw some exotic wildlife at a freshwater lagoon, and even experienced an earthquake.

It was a fun trip but we missed The Con-Man and were glad to be home yesterday.

And last but not least this week I'm working on the top for my coffee tables! Hoping to be done by the weekend.
