Feature Friday: Blue Roof Cabin

Happy Friday Everyone! Are you as ready for this weekend as I am? We have 2 Easter Egg Hunts to look forward to and I'm taking Con-Man to a Mommy/Son brunch on Sunday. Yay! Some other news- we found out that Tiny Falcon #2 is a Boy! We had the ultrasound yesterday in Oklahoma City. Yay! Con-Man is going to be a good big brother! Now I can start thinking of ideas for the nursery.

Today I'd like to introduce you to Michelle from Blue Roof Cabin. She loves to build, she loves to repurpose, and she asks for power tools for Christmas. My kind of gal!

Her first project that caught me eye was these awesome built in shelves she made for her dining room. I love the way she made them look like they have always been in the home. It sounds like it took a lot of work! Building, replacing floors, staining painting. It turned out great!

And look at this banquet she made from salvaged doors from the ReStore. Be still my heart!

In another repurposing project she turned an old stereo cabinet into a useful shelving unit. How smart is that? I've seen lots of old cabinets at the Goodwill- now I know what I could do with them.

Michelle also has some great paint and refinishing projects. Like this cute crate that she built then painted. I love the quote she chose!

I am so inspired and in awe of all the things Michelle has made. I hope you enjoyed this peek into Michelle's blog Blue Roof Cabin!

And I hope you'll check back next week- I'm finally done with Con-Man's Big Boy Bed. It's ready to be assembled and I'll have some pics for you on Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend and happy creating!

Feature Friday: Awesome Projects Round Up

Happy Friday Everyone!

Sorry this post is a little late getting out the door. Yesterday I had one of those pregnancy days where I was so exhausted at the end of the day I called it a night pretty early. I've been still doing things with the same intensity I did in my pre-preggo days. Like yesterday I went running, spent a few hours in the wood shop (Con-Man's Bed is almost done!), ran around with Con-Man at the park, went to the grocery, cooked dinner, ect. All things that wouldn't have made me tired before; but at 19 weeks along, my body was telling me to take it easy sister.

So anyway- sorry for the late post. Here are some cool projects that caught me eye from around blog land this week:

Check out this amazing bathroom makeover from It All Started With Paint:

Wow wee!

You need to head over to Design OCD and see what this vanity used to look like:

What a clever idea!

Look at this CUTE coat rack from Garden Therapy!!!

Coolness!

This technically isn't a "project" or "DIY" but my pregnant brain just had to share it.

Thin Mint Cookie Balls from Simple Designing!! I am running down the street right now and knocking on the Girl Scout who lives in our neighborhood's door.

Drool!!

I also wanted to remind everyone (and I'm sure you all know already) that GFC for non-Blogger supported blogs is going away soon. I've added the Linky Follower tool to my page if you would still like to follow me that way.

I've also started using Bloglovin' to follow all my favorite blogs. I think the reader is easer to view than Linky Tools. I've been able to find all the blogs I follow on it, just search for the one you want and click follow! And-- you don't have to manually update your own blog- it does it for you. Double Yay!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and thanks as always for reading!

Feature Friday: Refresh Restyle

Happy Friday Everyone! I hope everyone has had a nice relaxing week and are looking forward to the weekend! I'm back with another Feature Friday. This week we get to meet Debbie from Refresh Restyle!

She's a super mom who sews, refinishes furniture, cooks, crafts, and does some pretty cool DIY projects all on a thrifty budget.

The first one that caught my eye was this pair of Stump Side Tables. I have been dying for a stump table for a long time now, and hers are making me green with envy!

Then I saw this clever idea that I think lots of people could use in their homes. She extended her skinny mantel into a chunky more functional one with just a little bit of effort. So smart!!

She also built this amazing farm house table. I am in love! Another great build using Anna White's plans.

Ok, and if all that isn't enough she is an awesome recycler. Check out these candle sticks she made using an old porch post she cut down and hauled home. My kinda gal!

And I love how she repurposed this old side table and made it fit her needs. What a great reuse of a Goodwill find.

I love Debbie's ingenuity and style! You Go Girl! If you want to see more of her creations and projects check out her blog Refresh Restyle!

Till next time have a great weekend!

Feature Friday: Birds and Soap

Woo Hoo! Anyone else excited that the weekend is right around the corner? Freeeedooommm!!! What are you weekend plans? I'm hoping to make it into the wood shop to work on Con-Man's bed. And I'm super excited to show you something next week that I've been working on.

In the meantime it's time for another Feature Friday. This week's Girl Power is coming from Jenny from the blog Birds and Soap. She lives in Idaho with her hubs and 2 daughters. She's extra crafty, a budding DIY'er and soap maker!

Her blog caught my eye while I as perusing Anna White's website. She built this awesome Farm House bed using Anna's plans.

Farm House Bed

Doesn't it look Fab-U-Lous? I think it looks similar to the one I'm building for the Con-Man and gives me hope that there is light at the end of this bed building tunnel!

She also made this adorable dress hanger for her daughter's dress up clothes:

Dress Hanger

I think it's awesome to give something for your child- I think they cherish it even more.

And the project that got it all started; picture ledges for her living room. Hmmm, maybe I should make some of these for our future family photo wall?

Picture Ledges

Jenny, all I have to say is well done and You Go Girl!! If you want to see more of Jenny's craft adventures check out her blog Birds and Soap.

And if you know of any one who has Girl Power or if you want to be featured on Feature Friday just let me know! I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great weekend and to any Oklahomians out there stay warm!!

Feature Friday: Taking The Side Street

Hey Everyone!! I hope you've all been having a wonderful week. Before we get to Feature Friday today I wanted to talk with you about something that has been on my mind lately:

FOOD!!!

I've always been a big eater but with this whole pregnancy thing food has been first on my mind (after my son and family of course....) I've been looking at food, pinning food, ect. Like right now as I am typing this I am eating pumpkin soup that I just had to make and eat right away.

Notice how I am eating it out of a measuring cup? Ya, I thought that if I ate it out of something small I wouldn't eat a lot. Well... 3 cups later and it's a different story.

I've also been making these turkey bacon and egg cups:

High protein low calorie breakfast!!

And of course I've been trying to curb my chocolate cravings with this new discovery:

Mmmm! Chocolaty goodness! Buying it in the box is cheaper than the pre-made cups and you get more for your money. And they are REALLY good! I've been able to go without ice cream for over a week!

So... enough about me and my insane eating habits, let's talk about an awesome blogger who I am totally inspired by~ Anna from Take The Side Street. (Don't you love the name of her blog?) She's a wife and mom with a great sense of humor- just read one of her blog entries and you will smile. She is an awesome DIY'er and has created a lot of cool projects.

The first thing that caught my eye was this super cool sofa table she built from scratch!!

Like it? Want it? You can make it because Anna has been nice enough to include the plans on her blog!

I love her stairwell redo- check out the before and after!

She sanded, worked, and painted it all herself. Dang...

She turned a typical Ikea dresser into a fabulous one with wood trim, paint and new knobs:

And what person couldn't use some closet organization inspiration? She built the closet cubbies on the cheap- move over California Closets!

And I love love love her barn wood art. (I love me some barn wood!) Oh and her guest room makeover ain't to shabby either.

Inspired much? I am! For more great DIY ideas and inspiration head on over to Anna's blog Take The Side Street and check out her other great projects! You Go Girl!

Until next time- have a great weekend and happy DIY'ing!
