A few Furniture Updates~

So ever since I decided to actually sell I've been kind of antsy and nervous. What if no one buys my stuff? What if no one likes it? what if what if what if?!?!?!

Ugh scary. But those fears haven't held me back from making more- it's a sickness I think. 

Remember when I found that cute little side table for $5? Well it is now all redone, shiny and new and ready for someone to take it home!

The top was all messed up with some sticky gunk that I had to remove with GoGone

The wood on the top was actually really nice. So I restained it a darker color and painted the bottom blue.

I also revamped this little beauty I found on the side of the road:

The mirror was broken and long gone out the frame. But the frame was in good shape so I knew I could save it. 

After removing the mirror that was left behind and some clean up and paint, I used the side "wings" to create a cork board/ chalk board:

I used mending plates to attach the two pieces together. And I used the existing backboard (that the original mirrors were attached to) to make the cork and chalk board. Pretty easy and I saved something from being thrown away!

The larger mirror frame I turned into a large chalkboard. The existing backboard on this piece was in bad shape so a new piece of hardboard was cut and painted with chalkboard paint. You can see it hanging up in my booth!! Yay!

Vintage Trophy Wine Stopper

Hello All! We're back from a whirl wind vacation- we drove down from Oklahoma to Louisiana. Then over to Texas and back up again. We've been gone for almost 2 weeks visiting family one last time before Tiny Falcon #2 shows up (I'm almost 35 weeks now!!) 


It was great seeing family and friends but I'm glad to be home again. 


I have a quick and easy DIY for you today. While I was home in Houston my Mom informed me that it was really time for me to get the last of my stuff out of my room; you know since I'm 30 and all... (is it sad that I'm referring to something of my own as "vintage"?)


I've cleaned out a lot of it but some things still linger. One of those things are my old soccer trophy's. I was a big soccer player back in the day. I played from 3rd grade all the way into college. So needless to say I had a lot of old trophies hanging around. It's hard getting rid of things like that so I decided to keep one of them and thought it would be neat to make something out of it.

I had seen this article a while back which gave me my inspiration for this little project; a trophy wine stopper!

 I started by taking the trophy apart and scrounging up an old wine cork.

Since my cork was used I utilized the hole already made by the cork screw. I used a Philips Head screwdriver to deepen and widen the hole. If you use a new wine cork you may need a drill with a 1/8" drill bit to start the hole.

I wanted to make doubly sure my soccer girl stayed on the cork, so I dropped a little Gorilla Super Glue into my newly made hole and some on to the top of the cork. Then screwed the Soccer Topper on.

Done! Seriously I think it took me longer to type this post then it to do the actual project. Now I have an awesome wine stopper that will always remind me of my past and of one of my favorite activities. And it was FREE! Triple Score (or as we say in soccer speak a Hat Trick!)

How do you hold on to old memories? Did you have a hard time getting rid of all the things in your childhood room?

I was also left with the marble bases from the trophy. They are Carrara Marble so I didn't want to throw them away; need to think of something to do with them next!

Easy Update: Fancy Up a Boring Table Cloth

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We hit the road once again for Louisiana to visit family and see our Tigers Play. It was a great weekend overall. Not only did we get to see our family and eat some awesome food, our LSU Tigers are still #1!!


Ok before this post becomes all about football; the weekend before Thanksgiving I hosted a Wine Club Party at our house (Yes there are some good things about Altus, OK!). I thought it would be fun; along with wine drinking, to do some wine related crafts at the party. My problem was that there were going to be a lot of girls and I don't have a lot of table space.


This is what our dining room usually looks like:

Notice something missing? Like a table? I have a million chairs but no table. 

Solution- a temporary folding table!

Not perfect but much better. It certainly did the job at the party. The only table cloth I had was an old beige one from Walmart that I've had forever. Boring! I thought it would be fun to fancy it up with some paint and a stamp. 

Easy process- put some paint on your stamp and go for it! I just eyeballed the spacing of the stamp. And I didn't mind of the paint wasn't perfect, I liked that some of it didn't stamp all the way.

There you have it- a quick and easy way to fancy up a cheap boring Walmart Table Cloth!

It was a fun party and all the girls enjoyed making the crafts. There were some cure reindeer and a lot of creative hair pieces. Some of the girls even made cork Christmas Tree ornaments.

From Boring to Beautiful

One thing I've been loving about our Walmart here in our new town (I know- it's a stretch to say "Love" and Walmart together but it's the only grocery store around) is the clearance section! They have a ton of stuff on clearance all the time. I've been able to stock up on toys for Con-Man's Christmas presents and a few things for around the house.


The other day I saw they had  a bunch of office supplies on clearance and I grabbed a few of these dry erase cork boards for $3 each. And I don't know about everyone else but I could really use some organization in my life.

They're ok as they are but I thought they could use some jazzing up. I've been saving more wine corks lately and decided it was time to use some more of them. I've found that sometimes when you glue the whole cork onto something they have a tendency to pop off over time. So this time I decided to slice the corks in half and glue them on that way:

Once I had sliced up a bunch of them I glued them around the frame. I finished off the rough edge with some decorative rope trim. And in no time my wipe off board went from boring to beautiful!

And since I had bought a few of them I made one of them a chalkboard instead of a wipe off board. Just a few coats of chalkboard paint did the job:
